New York Backwards: 14 Food and Beverage Businesses at Poughkeepsie Galleria Penalized Unfairly as Part of the

Phase Three Re-Opening of New York State

— Despite being fully prepared to follow Phase Three guidance from New York State,

14 food and dining businesses at Poughkeepsie Galleria continue to be treated

unfairly and unlike other restaurants allowed to re-open Friday —

Poughkeepsie, NY – 14 food and beverage businesses at Poughkeepsie Galleria, representing about 200 employees at the center, are demanding fairness and quick action from New York State in allowing them to re-open immediately alongside all restaurants as part of the Phase Three re-opening today.

Despite carefully following the phased approach outlined by the State on May 4th and investing significantly in new safety and social distancing protocols, in addition to meeting all local and national health and safety metrics, these businesses and their employees are in serious jeopardy at a critical juncture in our State’s recovery.

“At Poughkeepsie Galleria, our employees along with countless others within the center are ready, eager and need to get back to work again to provide for our families and contribute to the local economy,” says Mike Hoover, owner of NYVA Restaurant Group. “We’re simply asking not to be treated any differently than those restaurants that are being allowed to open under similar circumstances.”

The following Poughkeepsie Galleria food and beverage businesses stand ready to re-open following State guidance:

  • Arctic Smash
  • Auntie Anne’s
  • China Max
  • The Crafted Kup
  • Gloria Jeans Coffee
  • Little Tokyo
  • Mr. Smoothie
  • Nathan’s Famous
  • NY Deli
  • Scotch Bonnet
  • Sicilian Delight
  • Starbucks
  • Taco Bell
  • Wetzel’s Pretzels
