American Red Cross to Host Emergency Hurricane Florence
Relief Fundraiser at Poughkeepsie Galleria
Poughkeepsie, NY – More than one week after landfall, flooding continues in the Carolinas and the American Red Cross is working around the clock to provide shelter, food, comfort and other emergency support to victims of Hurricane Florence. This Saturday, September 29, the Mid-Hudson Valley chapter of the American Red Cross will be hosting a fundraiser at Poughkeepsie Galleria for Hurricane Florence relief efforts.
Hurricane Florence made landfall early on September 14 as a Category 1 storm just south of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. According to information provided by the American Red Cross: “Hurricane Florence is gone but her devastating effects continue in the Carolinas where dangerous flooding is still occurring, forcing more people to leave their homes. The storm poured an estimated 10 trillion gallons of water across the Carolinas and it could be weeks before the flooding ends.”
The Red Cross is responding to devastating, prolonged flooding and needs financial donations to be able to support thousands of people right now. Help people affected by Hurricane Florence by visiting Poughkeepsie Galleria on Saturday, September 29, 2018 to make a financial donation between 10AM – 3PM.
